a message from the blogger

I'm still trying to update Touille's blog so that there are no more dead links or links to sites that are not secure. I've had to delete a few posts which made no sense anymore. Touille is always on my mind as I update and read old posts.

Zombie Touille

From the look on this kitty's face, I fear that adding a horned costume is gilding the lily, so to speak.

mexican bat dog

Mexican Bat Dog photo on Flickr
mexican bat dog by kreet.

The photographer says:

this is zipper, she was found in an abandoned building and was adopted by my landlord and her daughter. for all that zipper lacks in looks, she makes up for in personality. she is very sweet and loves everyone, especially children. as her health improves, we hope her coat will begin to fill out, she is healthy otherwise. although she is a mystery mix, we have decided that she is her own breed, a "mexican bat dog" bred in mexico to chase fruit and vegetable stealing bats away from villages.
I think that Zipper is a fine looking dog. And her personality probably beats mine, because she "loves everyone, especially children" (emphasis mine).

- Touille, also a sweet dog who unfortunately is not overly fond of children, but who loves everyone else to a reasonable degree

a scary dog photo for Halloween

Say cheese!!!
Say cheese!!! by Mikenpet.

This is not a werewolf or a zombie dog. But Maggi looks awfully scary here.
The photographer says:

She did not like the Flash...Our great watchdog Maggi... This would be the face she would give you.. if you ever tried to and break in our house .... God rest your soul!!! This was a very tough shot to take, both for my safety and also my dog never usually turns on me like this.
I don't blame Maggi for this ferocity. Humans sometimes seem to think that we dogs are just props to be photographed. The Flash is not fun. It is almost as bad as The Vacuum Cleaner.

- Touille, a little dog whose teeth are almost as frightening as Maggi's

Tally and the pumpkins (Study in Orange and Brown)

Study in Orange and Brown
Study in Orange and Brown by Blazingstar.

Here's a nice "dog with autumn/Halloween stuff" photo.

I've noticed MB eyeing various bizarre lawn ornaments, planning to place me among them for a photo shoot.

- Touille, who probably will have to submit to the inevitable "dog with ridiculous ghost/witch/bat/spiderweb" photograph

Scary neighbors!

Scary neighbors!

MB has been taking photos of stuff around the neighborhood that looks like pumpkins, spiderwebs, and such. I see that this photographer, sbethell, has posed a canine creature next to some of this decor. Expect to see some photos of moi next to a jack-o-lantern or skeleton or similar item.

Charlie & Stretch

Charlie is the human on the skateboard, and Stretch is the dog on the leash. I hope that Charlie is not zipping along too rapidly for Stretch. His little legs can only go so fast.

Man and Dog Reunited

Here's an excerpt from the St. Louis Post Dispatch article:
They told him dogs couldn't go.

After Hurricane Katrina struck, the U.S. Coast Guard plucked Bobby Alberti, 59, and his dog Rover from a roof and took them to higher ground at the University of New Orleans.

Helicopters were on their way to the campus to fly people to Interstate 10, where buses would take them to shelters with food and medical care.

But dogs had to stay behind.

Read more about it.

MB tells me that she would not leave me behind. I guess that I am lucky to be a very small dog. MB could just stuff me inside her shirt and probably no one would even notice.

UPDATE by MB in 2019: Now there is a kid's book by Francis Alberti about this event. I couldn't find a better link for the original article in the St. Louis Post Dispatch.

Blessing of the Horses

At the animal blessing to celebrate St. Francis of Assisi Day, most animals were allowed to enter the Cathedral. The horses and police "attack dogs" remained outside in front of the Cathedral. The street was not closed off, so during the blessing of the horses, one automobile came driving right by, causing one horse to become a little skittish. But the blessings proceeded without a hitch.

Blessing of the Animals

Here is a dog getting a blessing by one of the priests at Christ Church Cathedral. I believe that animals are blessed every day, and that we don't need a priest to pat us on the head. But the humans seem to like the idea of filling the church with animals for a day. Dogs, horses, cats, and one owl came to the blessing ceremony.

Man with a flute

fluting for touille by MBK.

This man was the drummer at the blessing of the animals at Christ Church Cathedral. MB tried to get a photo of me being serenaded by this person. I just wasn't that interested. But I did enjoy meeting and greeting the dogs and their people who (respectively) sniffed and petted me.

- Touille, who enjoys being greeted and petted, but serenaded - not so much

Beware of the Beast, Scorching Bay, Wellington

MB has been very lax about typing things in my blog. So after days of nothing, she has decided to blog this photo.

I guess it is mildly amusing. The photo was taken in New Zealand. I have never been there, nor has MB. But MB's sister has actually traveled to New Zealand and loved it there. She and her husband actually wanted to move there, but they wouldn't have been able to find jobs. So they moved to Bisbee, Arizona instead.

My most recent adventure was to be blessed at the annual St. Francis of Assisi Day "Celebration of Creation" and animal blessing at Christ Church Cathedral in downtown St. Louis, Missouri. I will have MB give a link to photos from that event in a later blog post.
